Chocolate. It never gets old. Well, it can get old if you leave it out, and then it's more stale than old. Nobody wants stale chocolate (or nuts for that matter).
What we want are fresh chocolate covered walnuts! So simple, easy to make, and a healthy and nutritious snack when you're craving a little sweetness in the day. We actually had a lovely customer make these (photo shown), and it reminded us of how delicious and decadent these can be for any occasion. Wink wink...Valentine's Day.
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups raw, organic walnuts
4 ounces coarsely chopped dark chocolate, at least 60% cacao
3 tablespoons of heavy cream
DIRECTIONS:
Cover a large baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. Set aside.
Combine chopped chocolate and cream over low heat in a small saucepan. Stir constantly until mixture is smooth and creamy. Remove from heat.
Dip nuts halfway, or entirely, into melted chocolate mixture and place on covered baking sheet. Once all walnuts have been dipped, refrigerate until chocolate is set (30 to 40 minutes).
Eat immediately (really...how could you not) or store in the fridge or freezer. You can also sprinkle with a little salt, cinnamon, or spice to add a little "spark" to your chocolate beauties!
